Custom art and picture framing

Whether you have a new artwork for the wall, something much-loved that needs refreshing, or something a little unusual, we’ll help you find the right way to frame it.

You don’t need to know anything about picture framing before you come in. We’ll show you the possibilities, talk through what works with your piece and your space, and help you make the choices. It’s a collaborative process — and one of the parts of framing we enjoy most.

“5 stars is not enough. Outstanding customer service, quality workmanship, attention to detail, and unmatched affordability. Highly recommend. Will continue to frame art with this business.”  Brodie Johns

Framing Consultations

You may know exactly what you want, or have absolutely no idea. Either is fine.

We’ll explore frame and mat combinations with you, considering the artwork, your space and your style. You can be as involved as you like — we’re here to offer ideas and help you find something you love.

We’ll give you the price before we begin. Our usual turnaround is around 2–3 weeks, but if you need something sooner, just ask.

Made Here in Nelson

Every framing job is made by hand in our Nelson workshop.

We work with a huge range of mouldings sourced from New Zealand and overseas, from simple contemporary profiles through to ornate and distinctive frames. When you visit, you can see the workshop and watch us at work.

We also make custom-framed mirrors, with plenty of contemporary, classic and ornate options to choose from.

Conservation Framing & Glass

Good framing isn’t only about how something looks — it can also help protect the things you value.

We use conservation techniques and archival materials where appropriate to help protect artwork from light, moisture, insects and deterioration over time.

We offer everything from standard picture glass through to ultra-clear Museum Glass with UV protection, and can also reglaze frames when accidents happen.

Canvas Stretching

Paintings on canvas generally need to be stretched over a timber stretcher frame before they can be hung.

We stretch canvases here in the workshop, carefully tensioning the canvas so it sits flat and is ready for the wall. A stretched canvas can be hung as it is, or we can add an outer frame or float frame to give it a different look and a little more presence.

Textile Framing

Textiles need a different approach from works on paper, and we’re experienced in framing embroidery, cross-stitch, jerseys and other fabrics.

We use appropriate mounting techniques to support the textile and keep it looking its best — without compromising the work itself.

More than Pictures

Not everything worth framing is a picture.

We’ve framed records, medals, memorabilia, objects, collections and all sorts of things that weren’t originally intended to go on a wall.

If you have something unusual you’d like to display, bring it in. Chances are we can find a way to frame it.
